A man will face court after being charged with the alleged sexual assault of a primary school aged girl in Melbourne’s outer east.
A man has been charged after a primary school aged girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in Melbourne’s outer east.
Police allege the 11-year-old girl was sexually assaulted near Willow Rd in Upper Ferntree Gully about 4.30pm on September 5.
Knox Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives swooped on an Upwey man, 43, about a week later, arresting him on the Ferny Creek bike trail in Ferntree Gully on September 11.
Leading Senior Constable Adam West said the man had been charged with sexual assault of a child under 16 and possessing child abuse material.
He was been bailed to appear at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
