TOWN OF WALLKILL - Police say they have charged a Middletown man with attempting to rape a woman at the Walmart in the Town of Wallkill Thursday afternoon.
Wallkill town police said they were called at 3:55 p.m. to the store on Route 211, where a 34-year-old woman reported that a man chased her through the store and forcibly tried to remove her pants in an attempted sexual assault.
Police charged John Pascucci, 59, with attempted first-degree rape, a felony; and forcible touching, a misdemeanor. Pascucci was arraigned by Town Justice Peter Green and sent to Orange County Jail on $150,000 bail or $350,000 bind, awaiting a Sept. 29 Town Court date.
