Homeless man ‘gave child heroin’: court

A homeless man is accused of getting a troubled 14-year-old girl hooked on heroin and sexually assaulting her despite her turning to him for help.

Michael Timms, 61, was 57 and living in a squat in Geelong when he “befriended” the young girl, according to police allegations in court documents.

The County Court of Victoria heard allegations he injected her with heroin for the first time in 2016, the day before her birthday.

He continued to give her free heroin until she was hooked, it is alleged.

He told her if she “liked bongs (she’d) love smack” and “kept shooting (her) up”, the alleged victim told police.

The court heard she “felt that by 15 he had her addicted to drugs, he had her where he wanted her”.

He would also give her meth and cannabis at his squat, which later burned down, it is alleged.

The court heard the alleged victim believed he was “the only one who cared, the only one who was helping her”.

Police allege he asked her about her life and said he wanted to “buy (her) a horse and bring her up on a farm”.

But after gaining the vulnerable girl’s trust, he allegedly waited until she was asleep one night in his squat to grab her breast and masturbate.

She woke up to his vile act but was too scared to move, police say.

The teenager appeared “in despair” afterwards and said he had been “f***ing pathetic”, police allege in court documents.

Mr Timms – who is known as “Noddy” – denied the indecent assault to police and claimed the alleged victim was a “troublemaking little b**ch”, the court heard.

His lawyer Sandra Wendlandt on Monday said he had been diagnosed with cancer.

Mr Timms is charged with supplying a drug of dependence to a child and indecently assaulting a child.

He is next due in court in October.
